The granite-clad Iona Building of the UBC School of Economics is at the heart of the neighbourhood. Chancellor Place is within easy walking distance of the Chan Centre, the Museum of Anthropology, and other university amenities. Natural beauty is an important part of the neighbourhood, and many homes enjoy magnificent views of the ocean and mountains.
Construction began at Chancellor Place in 2004. Chancellor Place is home to approximately 1,400 residents living in a mix of housing types, including high rises and townhouses. Chancellor Place also has approximately 200 units of rental housing, a welcome addition to the university community.
