UNA Noise Bylaw

2nd Public Consultation

Development of the UNA Noise Rule

For the next 30 days until February 19, 2010, the UNA will be accepting your comments about the UNA Draft Noise Bylaw that has been developed according to the protocol outlined in the Neighbours Agreement section 5.5 and Schedule G.

Under the Neighbours Agreement, the UNA can adopt bylaws or rules that relate to the management of noise, parking, animal control and other similar issues that might occur within the UNA neighbourhoods. These bylaws will be approved by the UBC Board of Governors.  In the Fall of 2009, the UNA Noise Rule Development Committee, a committee of volunteers from the community and directors and staff of the UNA, reviewed draft language for a Noise Rule and made a recommendation to the UNA Board of Directors to bring this draft rule to UNA residents for comment. A public consultation period was held and the UNA received comments from a number of individuals and interested groups.  As a result of comments received, the language of the draft Noise Bylaw has been amended to increase the clarity of the bylaw.

At the end of the consultation period, the comments received during both public consultations will be considered by the UNA Noise Rule Development Committee and the committee will make a recommendation to the UNA Board of Directors.

The UNA Board of Directors invites you to review the most recent draft of the Noise Bylaw and send your comments to them c/o Katherine Xu at kxu@myuna.ca or by fax at 604 827.5375 or to the UNA Offices at The Old Barn Community Centre, 6308 Thunderbird Blvd before 4:30 pm on February 19, 2010.
