New to the UNA? Welcome!

Congratulations and welcome to your new home!  Moving to a new country / province / city is an exciting and confusing time.  There is a lot to learn all at once.  The UNA is here to help!

The Newcomers’ section has information to help you settle in: useful web links, phone numbers, information guides in multiple languages.  For more information, we invite you to visit our UNA office or come to one of our seasonal Newcomers’ Orientation sessions held at the Old Barn Community Centre.

Newcomers Lecture Series

There are many things you need to learn when settling in a new country. Our newcomers lecture series will provide you with useful information about living in Canada. Topics may include such things as the Canadian health care system, education, laws and banking. Lectures will be delivered in Mandarin except where specified otherwise. Registration is required.

“了解加拿大”系列讲座

初到加国,您是否已经了解加国的各种政策和制度?“了解加拿大”系列讲座,邀请各方面的专家为您介绍加国的各类资讯, 包括医疗、教育、法律、财经等等。国语讲座。请到Old Barn社区中心报名。

Newcomer Parents’ Support Groups

A drop-in support group for Chinese or Korean newcomer parents who reside in the UBC area and have children attending surrounding public schools. It aims to connect ESL newcomer parents, provide support, and share school and community settlement resources. Registration is required. Call 778.228.8536 for Chinese service or 778.229.5746 for Korean service.
