MEMBERSHIP

Anyone residing in a UNA neighbourhood is eligible to become a UNA member. Only members have the right to vote at the AGM and elect resident candidates to sit as directors on the UNA Board of DirectorsAll candidates running in elections must also be members.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE

Becoming a UNA member and voting in the upcoming AGM and elections is your chance to exercise your right to have a voice in how your community is run. Voting makes us a much stronger community.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

UNA residents can become UNA members at any of our Facilities (UNA Office, Wesbrook Community Centre, or The Old Barn Community Centre). All member applicants must provide the following:

     1. Proof of UNA address (printed service bill, rental agreement, accurate drivers licence)
     2. Government issued Photo ID

Please note, Access Card holders must provide the same documentation to become a member as residents without an Access Card. To save you time, residents can print and complete the UNA Membership Application Form before coming in to our facilities. If you’re unsure about the difference between membership and the Access Card, please see the following section.

ACCESS CARD & MEMBERSHIP

The UNA Access Card is used to access UNA facilities and receive discounts for various UBC & Vancouver Facilities — including UBC Aquatic Centre, Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver Public Libraries. As a UNA resident, you are entitled to this access card whether you are a member or not.

Membership in the UNA entitles residents to participate in their community by voting at AGM’s and by electing resident directors to sit on the UNA Board of Directors. The UNA Board is responsible for the oversight of the UNA.

The Access Card has the same requirements for address authentication as a Membership. If you are new to the UNA neighbourhoods, we have simplified the process of becoming a member by including an option within the UNA Access Card Application Form.

If a resident would like to become a member without applying for an Access Card, we have a separate UNA Membership Application Form.

HOW TO FIND OUT IF YOU'RE A MEMBER

If you have an access card but are unsure of your membership status with the UNA please check with UNA staff. They will be able to confirm your membership status or provide you with the form to become a member.
