UNA Snow and Ice Removal Bylaw

The UNA is seeking feedback from UBC residents on a draft Snow and Ice Removal Bylaw. Your feedback is important as it will inform the approval process of this new bylaw. About the Snow and Ice Removal Bylaw
The purpose of the bylaw is to keep neighbourhood sidewalks safe for people following a snowfall or ice buildup. The bylaw establishes responsibilities for residential and commercial properties to clear snow and ice from the full width of sidewalks that surround the properties by 10am on the morning following a snowfall, seven days a week. This is a best practice used across the Lower Mainland. The bylaw has been tailored to the UNA/UBC context.
The bylaw is structured to ensure that snow and ice is removed in a timely manner so that sidewalks are kept safe for travel. In the event that snow and ice is not removed in time, the snow will be removed and the costs of the removal will be at the expense of the relevant parties.
