Reducing Our Energy Consumption
In October 2018 there was a natural gas pipeline rupture that reduced the Lower Mainland’s natural gas supply to 85% capacity.
The UNA took steps to reduce our energy consumption by lowering temperatures within our facilities. This change affected the Wesbrook Community Centre, Old Barn Community Centre, and UNA main office, starting December 14, 2018.
FortisBC is reporting that capacity has returned to normal levels and the threat of a shortage is now low. Although the immediate urgency has passed, the UNA is committed to continuing it’s efforts in energy conservation. Our community centres and office will continue to operate at reduced temperatures and we encourage residents to join us in our efforts.
