Are you interested in providing a resident perspective on development in the UBC neighbourhoods?

As part of their regulatory powers in relation to land use in the UNA neighbourhoods, the UBC Board of Governors (BOG) created a Development Permit Board whose primary function is to consider Development Permit applications within neighbourhoods for consistency with neighbourhood plan policies, the development handbook and other governance requirements.

The Development Permit Board’s composition includes one member who is a resident of one of the UBC neighbourhoods to provide a residential perspective. The UNA is assisting with the process by seeking candidates to recommend to UBC for this position. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Must reside in one of the UBC neighbourhoods (Chancellor Place, East Campus, Hampton Place, Hawthorn Place, Wesbrook Place, Central Building and Focal Building).
  2. Be knowledgeable about contemporary planning and urban design.
  3. Understand UBC’s objectives in developing residential communities at the Vancouver Campus.
  4. Not hold an elected position on either the UBC Board of Governors or the University Neighbourhoods’ Association Board.
  5. Be able to understand and analyze technical information including complex drawings, data and reports.

More information on the Development Permit Board can be found here.

To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter to the University Neighbourhoods Association at communications@myuna.ca highlighting your interest and qualifications by June 30, 2023.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by the UNA with Campus and Community Planning participation. If selected, the successful individual will be expected to serve on the Development Permit Board for a minimum of two calendar years.
