March 27, 2020 COVID-19, News, Recreation

The UNA has cancelled all Spring Programs in accordance with public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Beginning on March 27, the UNA staff will start to refund registration fees in full. Refunds will be made directly to your accounts.

Refunds for Winter Programs, including pro-rated refunds for programs that were cancelled before the session was finalized, are now completed.

Currently, there are no changes to Summer Programs. Online registration for summer programs and summer camps will begin on May 25. However, we recognize that in these times, we must remain flexible and will reassess our programming in the coming weeks.

In addition to current facility closures, service suspensions, and the closure of all playgrounds, the UNA has also closed the Brockhouse Park Community Field and the Nobel Park Softball Diamond, effective March 23. These measures are necessary in order to adhere to public health advice for social distancing.

What is Social or Physical Distancing?

Social distancing, also known as physical distancing, involves keeping a distance of two metres from others. The B.C. Centre for Disease Control says; “Social distancing is a way that we can slow the spread of COVID-19 by limiting close contact with others. Even though we are not sick, we should still keep about two meters (six feet) or the length of a queen-sized bed from one another when we can when outside our homes.”

For questions about UNA facilities or services, please contact UNA staff who are all now working from their homes.
