Vista Point YMCA Child Care Centre
The Vista Point YMCA Child Care Centre has been made possible through a partnership between the YMCA, the University Neighbourhoods Association and UBC. This centre has been built with the expressed purpose of addressing child care needs for UBC’s growing residential community, with priority for families who do not work or study at UBC. It is intended to complement the services provided by UBC Child Care Services, who give priority to families who work or study at UBC.
Vista Point Child Care will offer 25 spaces for children ages 30 months to 5 years. Located at 5828 Thunderbird Blvd, this brand new facility will be operated by the YMCA of Greater Vancouver and will be an exciting addition to UBC child care options. Hours of operations will be 7:30am to 6:00pm and full and part time care options will be available.
For the initial intake/enrollment, a lottery process will take place to ensure that the process is fair and transparent and that there is equal access to the initial child care spaces. Priority for child care spaces is as follows:
First University residents who DO NOT work or study at UBC
Second University residents who DO work or study at UBC
Third People who work or study at UBC
Fourth General public
Parents are invited to submit an Application for Care to express their interest. Applications for the lottery process will be accepted until end of the day Monday April 18.
During this time, applications received will be pooled. After April 18, applications will be drawn randomly and placed on the waitlist in the order they are drawn. The Lottery draw will take place by Friday, April 22. After this date, families will be contacted by YMCA staff to register. Opportunities to visit the centre and meet with staff will take place in early to mid May.
