Be a Volunteer in Fall 2022

Give back to the community by volunteering with us!  This Fall, we have several volunteer opportunities that have have commitment levels of roughly two to three hours a week, beginning in September 2022.

If you’re interested in volunteering with us, there are a few ways to let us know:

1. Use the email contact or form provided in the volunteer openings listed below, if one is provided.

2. Use your UNA Account. Here’s how:

  • Log in to your UNA Account: myuna.ca/una-account.
  • Select the “Edit” button on your profile.
  • Navigate to the “Volunteer Information” section.
  • Check “I want to volunteer.”
  • Indicate your preferences.
  • Click the “Save” button.

After you sign up, a volunteer coordinator will be in touch with information about upcoming opportunities. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age.

Sewing and Mending Studio
Sundays | 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. | Wesbrook Community Centre

This studio explores basic sewing skills like how to mend your own clothing, as well as different kinds of needlework such as embroidery, knitting or quilting.

Community Lunch & Learn Lectures
Thursdays | 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. | Wesbrook Community Centre

A guest speaker gives a talk followed by a casual discussion in the ground-floor social room, overlooking the park.

Get Active! Mentor
September 2, 2022 or until filled | Wesbrook Community Centre

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning activities and mentoring participants in the Get Active! Physical Literacy for Women program. Get Active! is an initiative aimed to make recreational activities more accessible for women by reducing social, cultural and financial barriers to participation. The program builds physical literacy and provide the skills and confidence for women to participate in physical activities beyond the program.

Submit a Proposal for a Volunteer-Led Program
