The Campus Resident is a community newspaper that serves residents living in the UBC neighbourhoods. It publishes 10 printed and online issues annually (monthly, except August and January).
The paper is overseen by the Newspaper Editorial Committee, composed of a diverse set of resident volunteers and staffed by a managing editor. The Committee is responsible for setting the editorial direction of the newspaper; upholding the journalistic standards of truth, accuracy, and objectivity; and ensuring content remains relevant to the community. The Committee generates a list of story ideas and discusses them at the monthly meetings; recruits writers and content creators; and helps create content for the newspaper. The role of the committee allows The Campus Resident to function as a paper for residents, by residents.
The Committee’s composition is overseen by the UNA Board of Directors through an annual public application process, in accordance with the UNA Community Newspaper Policy.
