Drivers should plan ahead as the roundabout at 16th Avenue and Wesbrook Mall will be fully closed during the following periods for roadwork:

  • Sunday, July 12, 9 p.m. to Monday, July 13, 5 a.m.
  • Monday, July 13, 9 p.m. to Tuesday, July 14, 5 a.m.

The roundabout will reopen to traffic during the day on Monday, July 13, between the two overnight closures and is expected to return to normal operation on Tuesday morning.

The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Transit has scheduled a major asphalt repaving project at the 16th Avenue and Wesbrook Mall roundabout. During work hours, the intersection will be closed to all traffic. Traffic control personnel will be on site, and drivers will be directed to use alternate routes.

Residents living nearby should expect construction noise during the evening as crews complete the work.

Construction Schedule

  • Sunday, July 12, 9 p.m. to Monday, July 13, 5 a.m.
    • Full overnight road closure.
    • Crews will remove the top layer of asphalt. This phase is expected to generate higher noise levels.
  • Monday, July 13, 9 p.m. to Tuesday, July 14, 5 a.m.
    • Full overnight road closure.
    • Crews will pave the roundabout with new asphalt.

The overnight schedule has been planned to minimize disruptions to daytime traffic. The roundabout will remain open outside of the overnight work hours.

The UNA will share any additional updates from the Ministry and UBC.
