Nobel Park Child Care

The anticipated opening of the Nobel Park YMCA Child Care Centre is March 2026, pending completion of the building and approval from Vancouver Coastal Health.

The registry waitlist will open on Monday, December 8, 2025 and will be accepting sign-ups until Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Due to the high level of interest and limited space, the YMCA will be conducting a lottery to determine initial placements for children who meet current age and UNA priority eligibility criteria, starting in January 2026. Following the lottery, any remaining spots will be offered based on the original application date.

Wesbrook Child Care Centre

The new Wesbrook Child Care Centre has been constructed as an addition to the Wesbrook Community Centre. The facility accommodates 49 child care spaces for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children.

The facility is the first building to meet the UBC Green Building Action Plan strategies in energy, water, materials and resources, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, quality, climate adaption, and place and experience. The centre is managed by the UNA and operated by the YMCA.

Vista Point Child Care

The Vista Point YMCA Child Care Centre has been made possible through a partnership between the YMCA, the UNA, and UBC.

This centre has been built with the expressed purpose of addressing child care needs for UBC’s growing residential community, with priority for families who do not work or study at UBC. It is intended to complement the services provided by UBC Child Care Services, who give priority to families who work or study at UBC.

Child Care at UBC

UBC is the largest provider of on-campus child care in North America. The supply of child care spaces at UBC has progressively increased over the last 40 years. The university continues to face growing demand for child care from university faculty, students, staff and residents, especially as the number of permanent residents on campus grows.

UBC’s Child Care Expansion Plan (CCEP) provides a framework to deliver on UBC’s child care policy commitments and addresses both long-range institutional needs for childcare and projected neighbourhood demand.

The CCEP aims to create an inventory of approximately 1,200 spaces by 2041, meeting 20% of the projected demand, with a focus on delivering more child care spaces for children under 3 years of age.
