UNA Parks and Playgrounds

UNA parks and playgrounds are shared community spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. Help us keep them safe, clean and welcoming by following the guidelines below.

UNA parks and playgrounds are open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Parks may occasionally close for maintenance, repairs, safety or operational reasons.

When Visiting the Park

Be respectful of other park users and the surrounding community.

Keep pets on leash unless you are in a designated off-leash area.

Yield to pedestrians when cycling, skating or using a personal mobility device.

Keep playground areas safe for children and families.

Dispose of garbage in designated receptacles.

Respect plants, wildlife and park amenities.

What is Not Permitted

To keep UNA parks safe and enjoyable for everyone, please do not:

Smoke or vape
Consume alcohol or use drugs
Camp overnight
Litter or illegally dump waste
Damage or remove park property, landscaping or natural features
Create excessive noise with speakers, instruments or amplification equipment
Operate drones or other remote-control aircraft
Swim or bathe in fountains, ponds or water features, except at the Wesbrook Community Centre Splash Pad
Use open fires, fireworks, flames or barbecues unless specifically authorized by the UNA
Set up inflatable structures of any kind.
Sell products or services within the park area.
Construct or erect permanent/temporary structures in the park space.

Safety

Playground equipment is intended for children. Caregivers are responsible for ensuring children use equipment safely and appropriately.

Please follow all signage and instructions for the area you are using.

Stay aware of your surroundings and do not leave personal belongings unattended.

Suspicious activity should be reported to the RCMP when necessary.

In an emergency, call 911.

Pets and Dogs

Pets must be kept on a leash unless signage indicates otherwise, including within designated dog park areas.

Pet owners and handlers are responsible for:

Cleaning up after their pets
Keeping pets under control
Preventing disturbances or safety concerns
Preventing damage to park property

Bikes, Scooters and Other Personal Mobility Devices

UNA parks are pedestrian-priority spaces.

Electric scooters, unicycles and similar personal mobility devices should be operated slowly and with consideration for pedestrians.

Near playgrounds, please dismount and walk your device to help protect children and families.

Cycling, rollerblading and skateboarding may be permitted where appropriate. Always use caution and yield to pedestrians.

Protect Nature and Wildlife

Help preserve the natural environment by respecting plants, wildlife and other natural features.

Please do not:

Feed, disturb, handle, remove or harm wildlife
Pick or remove plants and flowers
Remove rocks or other natural materials

Visitors are also encouraged to minimize waste and use reusable containers when possible.
