All Elections Taking Place in October

With several elections happening this October, we’ve put together a quick overview for residents of UNA neighbourhoods:

• City of Vancouver Election: October 17
Because UBC is outside the City of Vancouver, eligible UBC residents can vote for Vancouver School Board trustees only based on their UBC residence. Advance voting is available on October 3, 7, 10 and 13, with voting at the AMS Student Nest also available on October 7 and 13. On Election Day, residents can vote at the AMS Student Nest or University Hill Secondary.

• Metro Vancouver Electoral Area A Election: No Voting Required
UBC and the University Neighbourhoods are part of Electoral Area A. However, the 2026 Electoral Area A Director election has been decided by acclamation, with David Hocking declared the successful candidate. As a result, there will be no voting for Electoral Area A Director on October 17.

• B.C. Provincial Election: October 24
A provincial general election has also been called for Saturday, October 24. Eligible residents can vote for the MLA representing their provincial electoral district. Advance voting will take place October 16–21. This is a separate election administered by Elections BC, with its own voting locations and requirements.
