Earth Day | April 22, 2023

Come celebrate Earth Day with the UNA! Learn different ways we can care about the Earth and decrease our impact while connecting with your community.

Earth Week in the Fitness Centre

Join us at our fitness centre’s the week leading up to Earth Day from April 16 – April 22, 2023, for a special promotion focused on reducing paper towel waste and promoting eco-friendly habits! We’re encouraging all our patrons to bring their own cleaning rag to wipe down used fitness equipment instead of using disposable paper towels.

By participating in this promotion, not only will you be helping the environment by reducing unnecessary waste, but you’ll also be supporting our efforts to create a more sustainable fitness centre. Plus, as an added bonus, anyone who brings their own cleaning rag on Earth Day will be entered to win a free 1-month fitness centre pass.

So, let’s work together to create a more sustainable future and make a positive impact on the planet, one workout at a time!

We hope to see you at our fitness centre on April 22, 2023, for our Earth Day promotion.

Make Your Own Seed-Starting Case | 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Growing your own plants from seeds is a fun way to make gardening more affordable and to learn about plant life cycles, support pollinators and reduce waste.

This workshop will introduce participants to the idea of growing plants from seed and provide them with the opportunity to create a seed-starting case made of re-used materials as well as discuss gardening and sustainability with fellow gardeners. What does growing plants from seed require, and what kind of difference can it make in the world? What can we learn from making do with the materials we have, rather than always purchasing something new?

Join our workshop host, Dr. Erin Despard, former Artist in Residence at UBC Botanical Garden, for this educational and inspiring conversation about growing plants and making do.
