The UNA is making updates to the small green space at the east end of Hampton Place roundabout to help it flourish once again. Here’s what to expect this fall:
- Greener Gardens Ahead: We’ll be replanting the flower beds with native and climate-adapted plant species that are better suited for our changing climate conditions. These new varieties will require less water and better withstand changing weather conditions.
- Smarter Irrigation System: A new irrigation system has already been installed, allowing separate watering for trees, grass, and flower beds. This means we can better manage water use, especially during dry seasons and restrictions, while keeping the park green and healthy.
- Smoke-Free Commitment: To maintain a clean and safe space for everyone, especially kids and pets, we are reinforcing our smoke-free policy in all UNA parks. While we understand the concerns around discarded cigarette butts, we will not be installing ashtrays. Instead, we’re removing temporary ones and keeping signage up to discourage smoking in the area.
We’re excited to bring about these updates and remain committed to making Hampton Park a welcoming and enjoyable place for all.
