Brock Commons Construction (Tall Wood)
Building construction will begin on the Brock Commons (Tall Wood) student residence near Chancellor Place on November 9, 2015. The 18-storey residence is expected to take 20 months to complete and is scheduled to open in September 2017.
A key objective during construction is to minimize the impacts to adjacent residential and academic buildings. As part of this project, there will be increased truck traffic in the area and there may be periodic road closures on Walter Gage Road. More information is available at transportation.ubc.ca.
Changes to Parking Restrictions in Hawthorn Place
Updated: November 9, 2015
In an effort to provide more availability for parking to residents and your guests on the west side of Hawthorn Place, parking restrictions have been increased. New signage has been installed to read No parking except authorized and maintenance vehicles Monday to Sunday 8 am to 6 pm. Warning notices were issued to vehicles in violation of the new posted parking restrictions for one week (through to November 9). Towing will now resume. This applies to Larkin Drive, Hawthorn Lane, West Mall south of Thunderbird Blvd, and Thunderbird Blvd west of Larkin Drive.
There are no changes to the 2 hour parking zones.
Parking restrictions are now consistent throughout Hawthorn Place.
Road Closure and Construction on UBC Campus
A Road Closures and Construction Information map is now available to help our UBC community better navigate the Vancouver campus. It shows where and when roads will be closed on campus, as well as construction site locations, and will be updated weekly.
